Greenwood has so many great ‘green spaces’ and parks it is hard to feature just one – so here is a list of some great places to get away and enjoy the great outdoors in the Greenwood area:
Old City Park – This 5-acre park follows Pleasant Creek from Meridian Street to Madison Avenue in downtown Greenwood, connecting Craig Park to the City Center Building. The park features a shaded playground, a football field, and a shelter available for rent. The public library is within walking distance of the park, located directly south of the park.
Summerfield Park – Located at 275 West Worthsville Road, this 16-acre park is one of the largest green spaces in the city. Open play areas and athletic fields are a theme of the park, giving residents and visitors a great place to play.
Northwest Park – If you are seeking a forest experience, this 20-acre park is for you. With more than 80% of the park being forested, with walking trails that crisscross the forest, this park is a nature lover’s dream as wildlife and native fauna have filled it.
Freedom Park – Located in southwest Greenwood, this park features a 1.5-mile walking trail, a 9-hole disc golf course, athletic fields, and both tennis and basketball courts. The park also contains the Freedom Springs Aquatic Center, one of the city’s favorite attractions.
